Does my Devonport lease require pest control? +

Check your lease agreement. In Tasmania, leases where pets were kept commonly require a flea treatment at end of tenancy. Your property manager can also confirm.

How long does the treatment take? +

Typically 1–2 hours depending on property size. Re-entry is usually recommended after 2–4 hours.

Can flea pupae be killed by the treatment? +

Flea pupae are resistant to insecticides. The treatment kills adults and larvae on contact. Pupae hatch after treatment and contact the residual product — this is why the treated area should remain undisturbed for 7–10 days.

Can carpet cleaning and pest control be done the same day? +

Yes. We coordinate both on the same day. Carpet cleaning is completed first, followed by the pest control treatment.

General Conditions for Cleaning of Carpet & Upholstery

"A1" refers to "Devonport Carpet Cleaning" (ABN 60 394 170 297). A1 cannot guarantee that all stains will be removed upon cleaning. Stains derived from caustics, acids and permanent dyes may be permanent. A1 cannot be responsible for any pre-existing conditions not apparent upon visual inspection, including: fugitive dyes not properly set; lounge suites with water or solvent soluble coloured backing; carpet that has been over-stretched or suffers de-lamination; carpet that has suffered sun-damage; use of high alkaline cleaning solutions; markers used on carpet, fabric backing or padding.

A minimum call out fee of $180 applies and a travel charge may be added dependent on distance.

Specific Service Information

Carpet Cleaning

Prices are subject to a maximum room size of 12 square metres. Stairs are quoted per step. Difficult stains may incur an additional charge. All jobs are subject to inspection and the decision to proceed is at the discretion of A1.

Upholstery

Price is per seating position. Maximum width of a seating position is 80cm — wider positions incur additional charges. Additional charges may apply for recliners, ottomans, chaises and leather upholstery.

Cleaning Limitations

A1 cannot be held responsible for pre-existing problems not divulged or evident during inspection. Soiling that has penetrated the carpet backing and involves the underlay and sub-floor is unable to be successfully treated. Some stains are permanent and cannot be chemically reversed. Work is performed on a best effort basis only.

Polypropylene carpets, as they wear, become dull in high traffic areas and give the impression of being soiled. They are also prone to friction damage due to the low melting point.

Furniture

Furniture will only be moved if deemed able by the technician. Beds will only be moved if single or on castors and in good condition. Bookcases and display cabinets will not be moved. It is the owner's responsibility to move personal items to allow access to the carpet.

Pest Control (Flea Treatment)

Flea treatment at end of lease can only kill currently live adult fleas and larva. Pupa present are impervious to insecticides and only killed once they hatch. The sprayed insecticide must remain undisturbed for at least 7–10 days. Further infestation may require treatment up to 8 months at additional cost. A fact sheet is provided to the customer for the new tenant. Post treatment responsibilities are unable to be guaranteed.

General Information

Payment Methods

Payment is required prior to or on the day of service unless arranged in advance. Payment can be cash, cheque or credit card. End of lease cleans require payment by cash or credit card. If payment is not made per our payment terms, the client shall be liable for all costs associated with recovering the debt including legal costs.

Cancellation Fees and Surcharges

A cancellation fee of minimum $75 applies if 48 hours notice is not given. Surcharges may apply for weekends, after hours, public holidays, multi-level apartment blocks or when more than one operator is required.
